We are very much looking forward to meeting the children during this event and have many exciting activities planned such as:

• House allocation
• Meet their House Tutor
• Ice breakers and fun games
• Tour of the school
• Attend some ‘taster lessons’ which will include some practical subjects
• Select their enrichment options for September
• Biometric finger scan

Children should arrive at 8.30am.  The day will begin with a welcome assembly led by the Head of Year 7. The day will finish at 3pm.  The children will be allowed to leave the school at 3pm unless you advise otherwise. 

Vehicular access to the Academy

Vehicle access is via the Newborough Road entrance.  Please use the drop off spaces on the school side of the through road.  Please do not park or stop on the turning circle. Traffic can be busy outside the school at drop off and pick up times, please advise your children to be observant and not to run around the school grounds.  Please do not walk your child into the Main Reception as parking will be limited. 

Access from the front of the school:  Children should be dropped off and allowed to walk to the school gate behind the sports hall.

Access via Paston Bridge Gate: There will be a member of staff at the Paston Gate. Please do not walk onto school grounds with your child.   

Children should congregate under the large canopy at the back of the school once on school grounds. 

Pedestrian access to site from the Manor Drive estate and Paston Ridings

There are pedestrian entrances from both the Manor Drive estate and Paston Ridings bridge.  The gates will be open during drop off and pick up times.   

Food and Drink

Your child should bring a filled water bottle with them on the day.  No fizzy drinks or energy drinks should be brought into school.  Your child should bring a packed lunch.  Please be mindful of allergies in children.  Please do not bring any nuts or kiwis into school.  

Free School Meals

If your child is currently in receipt of Free School Meals, a cold meal will be provided by the school on the Move Up Day.  To ensure your child receives a meal on the day please complete the online form below with your order by Friday 12 June 2026. Please ONLY complete this if your child is in receipt of FREE SCHOOL MEALS.  Children not in receipt of Free School Meals will need to bring a packed lunch.

Attire and Stationery

Children should come dressed in their Primary School uniform. If they were previously electively home educated, please dress in comfortable clothes appropriate for school.  They will be involved in sporting activities during the day so please ensure they are wearing comfortable shoes or trainers. Your child should bring a pen and pencil with them on the day.   

Absence / Illness

If your child is unable to attend the Move Up days due to illness please email absence@manordrivesecondary.org.uk by 8am the morning of their illness.  You will also need to contact the child’s Primary School to advise them of their non-attendance. 

Medical conditions / allergies

If your child suffers from any medical condition that you feel we need to be made aware of for the Move Up Days, please email office@manordrivesecondary.org.uk  

Parent’s evening

You are invited to attend a parents information event at school on the evening of Wednesday 1 July 2025 at 5pm.  You do not need to register your attendance. Please come to Main Reception on arrival.  The pedestrian gates will be open to allow access at the start and end of the event.
